Warsaw Kids Film Forum is an international pitching forum for films and television series aimed at the children’s market. Forum will take place from the 27th to the 29th of September 2017, in Warsaw. During the forum there will be workshops, lectures and meetings about producing films for children, as well as work in progress screenings, and One-To-One consultations by script consultants, distributors and sales agents. Between 20 and 24 projects from Poland and Europe will take part in the pitch session.

Two Czech project have qualified to the pitch: animation Living Large by Kristina Dufková and feature Ghost School by Jan Bártek. Puppet project by well-known Czech animator Kristina Dufková (e. g. Fimfarum – The Third Time Lucky) is based on a book La Vie en gros (2001) by French author Mikaël Ollivier. Scriptwriter is also well-known Czech writer Petr Jarchovský (regular collaborator of Jan Hřebejk), producer is Veronika Sabova (Barletta). The main character of the book and the film is 12-year-old Ben, who for most of his life hasn’t cared that he’s overweight. That changes after one summer vacation when he meets Klara. Ben adores her, which motivates him to lose weight. One day, he gathers up his courage and reveals his feelings, but when Klara rejects him, he sinks into depression and his world collapses. His mother brings him to a therapist, who helps Ben realize that it wasn’t really worth it. His responsibility is to get back to life and make his dreams come true.

The second selected project is feature Ghost School by young director Jan Bártek, produced by Pavel Berčík (Evolution Films). Bártek graduated at Tomas Bata Univerzity in Zlín. His TV series Kosmo (2016) was nominated for Czech Lion award in category Best TV series. Both projests were supported by Czech Film Fund.
