This absurd comedy is suggestive of Forman’s New Wave style of humor of the 1960s. It develops against the background of local elections in a small town, in which university student Jana finally decides to admit she doesn’t understand either James Joyce or the family duties of her married professor lover; her parents unleash an artful partisan war for election preferences; and teacher Laskoňová agrees with businessman Kittnar that love equals Manon.
