Vladimír Michálek based his melancholy second feature on the book by Jakub Deml. Set in the late 1980s, it tells the story of a village priest fighting to save the local church. The film excels through stylistic moderation and the unexpected casting of comic Boleslav Polívka in the starring dramatic role.
