A story of Prague’s National Street (Národní třída) captured in the here and now. National Street exceeds the presence of a street which, however, is not present – its essential film presence is, then, a negation of presence, a disappeared presence. It is the absolute presence of people and things transferred to a future language, current language without mediation. The street corner by the Film Academy, famed Café Slávia, the terrace of the National Theater, Café Louvre, Rock Café, as well as actors whose very language makes the street absent. Eva Holubová, Zuzana Stivínová, Lukáš Pollert, a real saleswoman, and an un(real) optometrist. And somewhere in the midst of it all, a battle at Café Slávia with cream-filled cakes – ruined cakes with marzipan dolphins…
