Animated short film Daughter, directed by Daria Kashcheeva, was honored with Short Film Jury Award: Animation at the Sundance Film Festival 2020.

In December, Daughter, produced by Zuzana Roháčová / FAMU and co-produced by MAUR film, was selected from more than 15 000 submissions, and today has been announced as the best-animated short of this year's Sundance Film Festival.

Daughter's creator, Daria Kashcheeva, continues in a series of fantastic achievements. In the past months, the director and FAMU student won the major prize at the world’s biggest animation film festival in Annecy, the student Oscar and was also invited to more than 60 festivals all over the world, including Toronto IFF, Sundance IFF, Melbourne IFF or Tallinn BNFF.

The greatest success for the film is an Oscar nomination in category for short animated films.

Daughter is not the first Czech film presented at the largest independent film festival in USA. In 2016, Ondřej Hudeček received the Short Film Special Jury Award for Best Direction of his film Peacock. In addition, Bohdan Sláma's Four Suns premiered at the festival in 2012.
