Lithuanian-French-Czech-Serbian-Portuguese-Latvian drama In the Dusk by internationally acclaimed Sharunas Bartas, who focuses on post WW2 Lithuania, has been selected for the Official Selection of Cannes International Film Festival 2020.

Festival de Cannes has unveiled the 2020's Official Selection, comprising fifty-six films to be accompanied by the Festival for their release in cinemas and screenings at certain festivals.

In the lineup, Czech cinema is represented by the historical drama In the Dusk, directed and produced by Lithuanian author Sharunas Bartas whose films Few of Us (1996) and Namai (1997) resonated at Cannes IFF in the 90s as part of Un Certain Regard. Therefore, In the Dusk was selected for The Faithful section which associates works from directors with at least one experience from Cannes.

The story of the film is focused on Lithuania, 1948. The war is over, but the country is left in ruins. Lithuanian partisan movement resists Soviet occupation. The fight is unequal, but this desperate struggle will determine the future of the whole nation...

In the Dusk is a co-operation of 6 European countries, and it was produced by Sharunas Bartas' Studija Kinema (Lithuania), Janja Kralj from KinoElektron (France) in coproduction with Sirena Film (Czech Republic, represented by Petra Oplatková), Biberche Production (Serbia), Terratreme (Portugal) and Mistrus Media (Latvia).

As project in the making, the film was supported by the Czech Film Fund in the call for minority co-productions with the amount of CZK 3 million (EUR 120 000).
