Foreign Festivals

The Czech Film Center is a partner of many major festivals and their associated markets around the world. We, therefore, represent Czech cinema primarily abroad. Since the entry of the Czech Republic into the European Union we have become official partners of festival giants in Berlin, Cannes, Venice, Sundance, Locarno, Toronto, Annecy and Clermont-Ferrand – as well as other major festivals such as IDFA, Hot Docs, Vision du Réel, Rotterdam, Cinekid, SXSW, Busan or Tokyo.

Working with film festivals involves a wide range of activities:

• we cooperate closely with the programming departments of festivals all year round
• we inform festivals about current Czech productions and recommend Czech films directly to individual sections or industry programs
• we connect festivals with Czech production companies and filmmakers
• for representatives of foreign film festivals, we organize screenings of newly completed films or excerpts from upcoming projects
• you can meet us at selected film markets where we exhibit along with our partners from other European countries
• we promote co-production with the Czech Republic
• we provide consultations to Czech filmmakers and producers and make tailor-made festival strategies for them
• we also provide basic PR services for Czech films featured at foreign festivals:
• before and during the festival we inform the international professional public and foreign journalists about the complete Czech presence at the festival and we also send out mailings informing about the notable successes of featured Czech films
• we inform the general public about Czech festival achievements on social media (Facebook, Instagram, Threads)
