Count Frank Kostka, his wife Vivien and their daughter Marie live in their family castle Kostka. Housekeeper Tichá, maintenance man Lebeau and warden Josef help them keep the castle somehow up. Even so, the castle is deteriorating, Frank does not have enough money either for repairs or for salaries. It seems that the request of lawyer Benda, who needs to house his eccentric daughter Deniska for a while and pay for that, comes at the right time. But the spontaneous and attractive Deniska attracts Maria's noble suitor Max. And the local health office discovers that the castle is basically falling apart and wants to close it down…
