Pitch & Feedback will present projects in development

p

Pitch & Feedback, the annual presentation of selected Czech and Slovak film projects in development taking place during Industry Days of Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (KVIFF) will take place on Tuesday, 4 July 2017.

The aim of Pitch & Feedback since its first edition in 2012 has been to establish an effective platform for selected Czech and Slovak film projects with a potential for international co-production. These 6-8 projects selected each year by the Czech Film Center and Slovak Film Institute are given an extraordinary opportunity of assessment from multiple film industry angles.

During the presentation event, the producers and directors, in a 7-minute pitch, introduce their projects to important representatives and decision makers from various areas of the international film industry and directly receive their valuable feedback and advice. The advantage of this format is that this all happens in a friendly and passionate environment, among people who are committed to support good cinema.

How it works

The organizers address international film professionals from various areas of film industry (film funds, training programmes and co-productions forums, film production, film sales and distribution, etc.) and invite them to become Pitch & Feedback experts.
The experts interested in cooperation receive detailed information about the selected projects approximately 3 weeks prior to the event to get acquainted with the evaluated work.

The materials include:

  • entryform (basic information, synopsis, filmmaker´s profile/CV, company profile)
  • financial plan
  • script / 10 pages of the script with dialogue)
  • treatment
  • scriptwriter´s / director´s statement
  • link to the previous work of the director

The team of experts (mostly consisting of 5 members) is invited to Karlovy Vary IFF.

The Pitch & Feedback event consists of 2 parts: public and individual
1. Individual consultations of selected projects with the experts
Monday, 3 July, Carlsbad Plaza (tbc)                               9:30 – 13:30
Experts, acquainted with the projects, will give their feedback and share their valuable experience with the filmmakers.
The feedback / consultation should go deeper into certain aspects of the projects: the potential of the subject, dramatic structure, financing, production and exploitation strategies. The composition of the experts´ group reflexes different areas of the film industry – namely funding, sales, co-production platform, training and production. However, each expert is welcome to give his feedback not only from the perspective of his “area”, but in general about the potential, quality and eventual weaker parts of the project strategy.

2. Pitch & Feedback presentation
Tuesday, 4 July, Industry Pool, Hotel Thermal             10:00 – 13:00
The projects are pitched to the experts and invited professionals.
After each pitching, the experts, seated in the first audience row, will give their feedback in front of the presenters and the audience consisting of film industry professionals. The audience will also get a chance to comment or raise few questions about the project.

As the experts have met the participants already the day before and have consulted with them, they can also guide them a little bit by their questions in case something crucial was not mentioned due to the lack of time or pure nervousness.

The audience gets the basic information about the presented projects and the experts from the website and a special publication titled Book of Projects available beforehand.
Industry representatives attending Karlovy Vary IFF will be invited to the event before coming to KV and will get the link to the basic information about the projects 1-2 weeks prior to the festival start.

After the Pitch &Feedback presentation, an informal networking cocktail will be held to give the presenters, experts and other film professionals a chance to meet.
