„Promise, I‘ll be fine“ follows 15-year-old Enrique and his mother, Martina. Enrique hopes for her return home so they can be together, instead of being apart due to her job. Living with his grandmother in the village, Enrique obeys his mother‘s requests in hopes they‘ll save enough money to reunite. When he’s not fulfilling her tasks, he enjoys riding mopeds around the village with his friends. However, he soon discovers that everyone in the village knows something he doesn‘t. It‘s thanks to his friends that Enrique slowly discovers the true intentions of his mother. Enrique is faced with the moral decision of whether to accept the situation and be with his mother, or to stick to his values and cut himself off from her abuse.
