The title Saharan Sands is a loose paraphrase on a special meteorological phenomenon where a south subtropical wind brings tiny sand particles from the Saharan Desert during the hot summer months. This leads to a very bizarre condition: We can find sand from the distant African desert in Central Europe. This statement, the author of which is Václav (aged 50), a scientist at a small meteorological station, is used to identify the main character of the story. The film tells the story of a married couple that we get to know in the intimate preparations of their twenty-fifth anniversary. Even though the couple's marriage lasted an even quarter century, each of the partners’ characters is different. While Václav is a man who tends to be egoistical, Anička, who works as an elementary school teacher is a good-hearted and caring woman with an inclination to tending the family hearth. What happens during the celebration of their anniversary?
