Markéta earned her undergraduate degree in education from the University of West Bohemia, in Pilsen, and continued studying Czech language and literature and French translation at Charles University in Prague. After more than eight years of working closely with the Program Department of the Karlovy Vary IFF, she joined the newly created Czech Film Center in 2004. She has served as the head of the CFC since 2013 and in May 2019, she was appointed the president of the European Film Promotion.

Markéta heads the Czech Film Center (CFC), overseeing its team and strategic direction. She leads the promotion of the Czech audiovisual industry at major international markets and expands partnerships with a range of AV events. She works closely with the major festivals (e.g., Berlinale, Cannes, Venice, Toronto), coordinates the participation of Czech cinema at these festivals, and provides strategic advice to producers and filmmakers, both in festival strategy and development of projects. Markéta also serves as editor of CZECH FILM magazine, drives the Czech Film Springboard programme, and as a Czech representative engages in projects of European Film Promotion.

International Promotion – Non-fiction

Vítězslav joined the team of CFC in 2017. He holds a Master's degree in Film and Audiovisual Culture Studies from Masaryk University in Brno. During his studies he worked at Czech Television as an assistant dramaturg. Since 2010, he has worked for several film festivals including Karlovy Vary IFF and Ji.hlava IDFF. As a journalist, he has contributed to various Czech outlets and is still currently working for Cinepur magazine. He is also a member of the programming team of One World Human Rights Film Festival in Prague.

Vítězslav will as of now focus on the promotion of Czech non-fiction, including both films and series. His agenda includes collaboration with international festivals such as IDFA, CPH:DOX, Visions du Réel and Hot Docs, providing advice to professionals on festival strategy and project development, but also shaping the presentation of Czech documentaries at these key industry markets. He also manages projects like Czech Joy in the Spotlight and manages a database of Czech non-fiction projects, as well as festivals and contacts. For the transition period till Spring 2026, he will still be managing the promotion of Czech short films, helping Eliška in taking over of this agenda.

International Promotion – Fiction

Zuzana graduated with a master's degree from the Department of Film Studies at Charles University's Faculty of Arts. She has worked in the programming departments of several festivals, including Febiofest, Ekofilm, and Ostrava Kamera Oko. For several years, she worked as a sales agent for the production company Negativ. She co-organizes the feminist film series Girl Power at Bio Oko in Prague.

She joined the CFC in the fall of 2025 and specializes in Czech fiction, films and series. She works closely with several dozens of international festivals, coordinates the participation of Czech films at these festivals, and provides strategic advice to producers and filmmakers, both in festival strategy and development of fiction projects. She helps organize Czech presentations at international film markets, monitors premieres and awards, and manages a database of Czech fiction projects, as well as festivals and contacts.

Eliška Děcká
Eliška Děcká

International Promotion – Animation & Short Films

Eliška graduated with a master's degree in law and film studies at Charles University in Prague and later also studied Theory of Film and Multimedia Creation in the doctoral program at FAMU. For several years, she taught the history and theory of animation at the Department of Animated Film there and also worked at the National Film Archive. She has long collaborated as a dramaturge with a number of Czech and international animated film festivals. She publishes occasionally on film and culture.

She joined the CFC in the fall of 2025 and is responsible for animation and short films. She cooperates with international festivals, coordinates the participation of Czech films at these festivals, and provides strategic advice to producers and filmmakers, both in festival strategy and development of animated projects. She will coordinate Czech participation at flagship events, including the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Market and Mifa in Annecy. She will also curate the Czech Short Films collection and manage a database of Czech animated and short projects, as well as festivals and contacts.

International Promotion – PR & Communication

Luděk graduated in Film Studies at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague and Environmental Studies at the Faculty of Social Studies of Masaryk University in Brno. He worked as a programmer for the Prague Short Film Festival (also known as Pragueshorts) and collaborated with the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival as a reviewer of feature-length documentaries. He occasionally presented film screenings at the Ponrepo cinema in Prague and writes essayistic ruminations on films and filmmakers he likes – formerly for the magazine Film a doba and currently for the social-ecological magazine Sedmá generace.

He is part of the team of CFC since the beginning of 2024 and manages Czech Film Center’s communication with the public and industry professionals. He prepares press releases, manages the bilingual filmcenter.cz website, and curates CFC’s social media. He creates newsletters and updates, monitors communication trends, and fosters relationships with journalists and audiences of Czech cinema.

Magdalena graduated from Cultural History at Faculty of Arts and Philosophy at University of Pardubice. In the past, she worked for example in the production department of Prague International Film Festival – Febiofest, as chief editor of the Portal database at the National Film Archive or as the database and new web project coordinator at dok.incubator.

Magdalena joined the team of CFC in March 2019 and she handles administrative and production support for the team. She manages accounting documents, contracts and other materials, assists the head of the center, and ensures the smooth day-to-day running of the office. She also provides technical and production services for the Czech Film Center’s events in the Czech Republic.
