The Czech Audiovisual Fund (CAF) is the main public financing body for the audiovisual industry in the Czech Republic. It supports all stages of AV production, plus promotion, distribution, and other AV-related areas. The CAF also administers production incentives for audiovisual content made in the Czech Republic. Out of an annual operating budget of approximately 84 million EUR (depending on annual revenues from parafiscal levies), 64 million will go to production incentives and 20 million to selective support.
The Czech Audiovisual Fund is currently undergoing its transformation which will determine its further operation, including the support for new areas of audiovisual industry. The change is driven by the adoption of a new Audiovisual Act, which took effect on January 1, 2025 (Act No. 480/2024 Coll. on Audiovision).
Under its new name, the Czech Audiovisual Fund continues to run the two aid schemes: selective support for audiovisual works and production incentives. Both, however, undergo several significant changes. The details will be announced during the first half of 2025.
