Tobiáš is a drummer in Ivan Král’s band. He is also a professional garbage collector who consorts with garbage cans and dumps, and he quite literally meets Pavla among the waste. She is a delicate, golden-haired creature he finds lying unconscious with her wrists slit. The love between Tobiáš and Pavla is powerful, unrestrained, and chaotic. One evening at a night club Pavla collapses and is taken away on a stretcher while the music continues to play. At the hospital the head physician informs Tobiáš of Pavla’s fatal illness and of her approaching death. Tobiáš tries to come up with the money to save her life by organizing charity concerts. After his attempts fail an opportunity arises to get the money illegally. This, too, is of no avail. Despite everything, however, the two have discovered something far more important.
