Bohemian Rhapsody by Ondřej Hudeček and co-writer Jan Smutný was selected into the Torino ScriptLab 2017 selection. The project was presented last year at Czech Film Springboard at Finale Plzen.

Set in the 19th century Prague, upon the birth of modern European society, Bohemian Rhapsody is a contemporary variation on the Faustian theme, telling the story of Czech dramatist Ladislav Stroupežnický, whose progressive approach and desire for greatness collide with his nation’s die-hard medieval thinking.

Ondřej Hudeček´s last short Peacock, which he also co-wrote with Jan Smutný, won Special Jury Prize at Sundance 2016. Bohemian Rhapsody will be his debut.

ScriptLab trains scriptwriters and directors developing a script for a feature film, as well as story editors and creative producers. It ventures into exploring different ways in which an audiovisual project can be born: a script based on an original story, an adaptation based on a pre-existing work, and the work of a writer on commission.

TorinoFilmLab is a year-round, international laboratory that supports emerging talents from all over the world through training, development, funding and distribution activities.
