PLAYTOPIA is a story of a filmmaker and mother as she investigates how different children from diverse backgrounds perceive the world and the future. Set in a timeless sci-fi workspace, the children stumble upon a magical object called The Playtopia Machine, asking kids to reimagine society. Through play, the kids recreate current and future worlds, holding up a mirror to the values we pass on to them and offering a glimpse of a new way of existing - the digital world. Using live collage sequences, interviews, footage shot by the kids, and a suitcase with miniature objects, the film documents what children say about power, money, love, or hierarchy. Are we engineering our kids to succeed in a world that might ultimately destroy their future?
