Always be yourself. Even in life's hardest moments. That is the key message emanating from the life story of Jiří Bělohlávek (1946 – 2017), an exceptional musician and the former Chief Conductor of the Czech Philharmonic. Roman Vávra and his crew followed Maestro Bělohlávek during the last two years of his life, trying to give an authentic picture of his determination, sincerity, musical brilliance, and exquisite sense of humour, as well as his extraordinary empathy with his family and close collaborators. The film is not a traditional biographical documentary, rather, it provides an intimate insight into the last stage of the life and work of a legendary conductor whose legacy will inspire generations of artists to come.
