In 2013, we have experienced a unique moment in our modern history: for the first time ever, Czechs were choosing their president themselves through direct elections. People expected to find the father of the nation – a wise man (or perhaps a woman), the purest of all, who could offer them an absolution. Are the citizens more able to choose such a president themselves than the politicians would?
