The film plot takes place mostly on the western border of Czechoslovakia in 1981-1982. The plot is mainly based on the story of two human lives - of a Czech young man and an East German boy. The young man is drafted into military service with the Border Guard.His romantic dream of an easy escape to foreign countries slowly fades away, when he realizes what the consequences of his action might be. By contrast, the East German orphan has "nothing to loose" so he escapes from the orphanage and through Czechoslovakia to the West to seek an armful of his aunt. The fates of the two main characters meet and forever change their lives. At the same time we follow the adventures of other "border violators" who emigrate to find a better life. All stories of ordinary people, who have been forgotten by history, are based on real events. The aim of the film project is not to judge or denigrate soldiers serving in the border zone, but to create as truthful as possible testimony describing the reality of those years.
