Jan Vladislav, Czech poet and author, co-signer of Charter 77, publisher of the samizdat manuscript series Kvart, and translator of Dante, Shakespeare, Michaux and Eliot, was forced to exile in France in 1981 by the communiste regime. The first part of the film captures Jan Vladislav at the moment when he returns back to Bohemia after the death of his wife. In the second part we see him on a sicilian beach one year later.
