Hundreds of Czech Roma seek asylum in western Europe. Great Britain is the country they primarily head for thanks to its relatively relaxed asylum laws. Collected over time, director Mira Erdevički`s documentary follows the Kováč family as they attempt to find a new home and identity in Britain. Grandmother Ester Kováčová was granted permanent asylum there. She died, however, soon after, and her two sons and eight daughters had to bury her in London. Erdevička has an uncanny ability to adapt to the people she`s filming, and is thus able to capture truly intimate moments. Shots of the funeral linked to deeply considered contemplations of home and of one`s place in the world are among the films strongest passages.
