A film essay inspired by the close friendship between Tomáš Hejtmánek and Czech cinema legend, director František Vláčil. Originally intended as a friendly dialogue, Vláčil’s death forced the project to adopt a new tack. The result is a fusion of reminiscences, drama, documentary, and countless citations honoring thought, feeling, and creation. Czech veteran Jiří Kodet plays Vláčil, the only real difference being the face, never the language. The goal of the film is not to get to know Vláčil; on the contrary, the viewer must come to the film with foreknowledge of the director’s works, of the layers of his images and audio traces…
