A film version of the play of the same name put on by Prague’s Sklep Theater ensemble. Set in Los Angeles in the thirties, the story parodies the work of hardboiled detective writer Raymond Chandler. His detective, Philip Marlowe, is the diametric opposite of the successful man, preferring to play the role of the romantic cowboy who takes the law into his own hands as he seeks justice on the outskirts of the metropolis. Though a swell guy, his relationships with women are more than problematic. He seems to know everything except how to earn a proper living. But he can’t be bought, not with money, threats, or the favor of a beautiful dame. When Phil Marlowe is on the job you can bet some swindle has gone down in this world of lies and violence…
