Parallel Worlds relates an ordinary life story, one that many of us can relate to, about our times, our longing for love, and our relationships and the way we handle them. For several years an architect named Kryštof has been living with Tereza. While Kryštof considers his profession to be his main goal in life, Tereza, who has recently received a degree as a translator, desires a relationship with a steady, faithful partner – a love that should result in ‘an ordinary life,’ deep feelings, and a family… Against the background of this model study of male-female relations, director Petr Václav attempts to capture the attitudes of his own generation and to delineate the atmosphere of our times. This unaffected story is directed with a restless energy and non-conformity, and the scenes are impressive while simultaneously appearing drawn from everyday reality.
