True story of two Slovak Jews, Rudolf Vrba and Alfred Wetzler, who, in April 1944, escaped from the Polish Oświęcim (Auschwitz) concentration camp and were the first people to come back home with the eyewitness testimony of Nazi atrocities in the so-called labor camps, including mass extermination of unsuspecting people. Why did these two men risk everything, what was their goal, did they succeed or not? What was these men’s further fate, and what influence does history have on the present? The story is told by two students who, during their research of a contemporary political subject, discover a story of heroism in a corner of human history. A story of an effort which may have at times seemed futile, but which eventually led to almost 200.000 lives being saved.
