Jan Koller`s life story ranks among the world’s most unique ones. Variety of prestigious foreign servers devoted attention to him and in turn concluded, that the story of the ‘Czech Honza’ is a true fairytale, never to be recreated again. This sympathetic giant spent his whole childhood, teenage years and early adulthood representing amateur clubs on a small-town level. Most frequently he represented Smetanova Lhota village in South Bohemia. In the wildest dreams no one would even dare to think that the little boy scoring goals in a village of 300 people is going to be the terror of all football defenders and goalkeepers. Honza coincidentally managed to get into the reserve team of Sparta Praha, because he had side job there and had nowhere to train. He managed to wade through the reserve into the first league which was packed full of stars and representants. Honza managed to join the line-up and strike his first league goals. That proved to be something incredible. When his stay in Sparta started to get unsuccessful, he left for Belgian Lokeren. There he conducted to break the adversity and transferred to the most famous Belgian royal club Anderlecht Brussel where he won two titles. After that followed Borussia Dortmund and a title in Bundesliga. This two meter plus tall giant managed to get to the top. He was striking goals at the European and World Championship where he kept winning titles. The story of Honza Koller is not just a story of a man who refused to give up despite no one believing in him, it is also a story of every boy playing small-town football. It is the story about the fact that fairytales do come true and there always must be motivation to move forward.
