Eleven-year-old Rea moves with her father to a newly inhabited planet after a family tragedy, where her father is working at a replication factory. There, Rea meets Andy and together they discover an underground world that humans have no idea exists. When they find a lone baby of a rare creature, they decide to protect it from a greedy governor who wants to exploit the animal for his own gain. Their search for the truth takes them into dangerous caves, where they discover that reckless waste management is threatening an entire hidden ecosystem.
