The main character of the story is the small boy Toni, who, together with his father Levi, collect and repair things, people throw out, and then sell them to junk shops. On one of their search trips, Toni discovers a damaged book, which he decides to take home and repair, even though he knows he will have to pass it on. While mending it, the book becomes alive in his hands and allows him to enter its story, which is closely connected with his own personal grief. The revealed story helps to ease Toni’s heartache.
