Czech Hearts of Banat is not just a film about expatriate communities. It is also a deeper reflection on what it means to be Czech even when you live hundreds of kilometres from your homeland. The film portrays a community that, even after two centuries, has preserved its language, traditions and connection to Czech culture in an astonishingly pure and authentic form. The documentary is conceived as a tribute to the Czech diaspora and as a gift marking the 200th anniversary of the founding of the villages. Through beautiful imagery of the Czech villages in Banat, its untouched natural landscapes, and the warm, heartfelt stories of its inhabitants, the film offers an intimate journey into this unique region. It sensitively traces the origins and formation of the Czech community in this part of Romania while also presenting a realistic picture of the changes and developments that Banat is currently experiencing.
