A 16-year-old Czech figure skater trains to land a quadruple jump, dreaming of winning a major championship — even if it means sacrificing her youth to an isolating world of ice.

Sixteen-year-old Barbora Vránková faces the most important chapter of her young life. Crowned the Czech Republic’s women’s figure skating champion, she now carries her nation’s hopes as she prepares to step onto the world stage. Training in Egna, Italy, with Europe’s figure-skating elite, Barbora spends hours on the ice every day while trying to keep up with schoolwork and family life. Her parents and little sister, Thea, have relocated to support her, and her loyal dog, Lucky, remains her closest companion. She pursues her dream even at the cost of teenage friendships and the warmth of a first kiss. Figure skating, once a dance of grace and beauty, has become a battle of gravity and courage. Russian skaters revolutionized the sport with dangerous quadruple jumps, yet in the wake of the war in Ukraine, they are now banned from international competition. Days and months blur together at the rink, each jump becoming its own quiet battle. The stakes rise with every rotation. Will “the quad” lift her to glory — or bring Barbora’s dreams crashing down?
