Promise I'll Be Fine captures the story of a complicated relationship between a thirteen-year-old boy Enrique and his mother Martina. Enrique hopes that one day, they shall live together happily as a family. However, their mutual trust begins to slowly evaporate. Enrique seeks refuge in his group of friends and also in the virtual reality. Slowly, he starts becoming closer to the old people living in Utekáč who fell victim to his mother’s frauds. Thanks to them and his friends he begins to unveil the truth about his mother and about the environment that surrounds him. The story follows Enrique to see whether he will accept his mother’s worldview and values and thus submit to her influence, or whether he will choose to defy her and try to find his own, better way of life.
