Sofi, daughter of a skilled robot mechanic, is forced to grow up quickly in a world shattered by war. Charged with protecting her brilliant but reckless younger brother, Hugo, she sets out across the ruins in search of Ekk, the last city said to have survived, where Hugo believes their mother is waiting. With them travels Otis, a broken medical robot hiding a wounded human inside. Crossing mutated wilderness, overgrown ruins, and an underground city, the siblings face deadly dangers and hard truths. When they finally reach Ekk, they find not paradise, but a new understanding of what home really means.
