In a small Moravian town, the lives of two policemen, a mentally ill woman, a unique child, and a couple running a family restaurant collide during a violent tragedy that changes their lives forever.
Now and After is a psychological subjective drama, told in parallel montage in an emotional mosaic. Through 3 storylines, it follows 6 main characters – ordinary people often overlooked in similar events – from the fictional Moravian town of Pomonín, whose fates are unexpectedly linked by an extremely violent act: a shooting in a local restaurant. The story takes place over 3 key days – one year after the tragic event, on the day of the attack, February 29, and four years later, again on February 29 of a leap year – and explores the impact of the traumatic experience on interpersonal relationships and the human psyche, as well as the process of coming to terms with it. At the same time, it deliberately pushes the perpetrator and the tragedy itself into the background as much as possible.
