This compilation documentary expresses director Dušan Hanák’s view of Czechoslovakia’s totalitarian Communist regime, and offers atmospheric overtones of the then current situation in the Slovak Republic under prime minister Vladimír Mečiar. Archive materials documenting the reality of the Communist era are used to supplement testimony given by victims of Communism. A stylized carnival float of ‘paper heads’ winds its way through the film and adds its own curious level to the message.
