The story of Lidice is based on a true story. It is the story of ordinary people who, through an absurd coincidence, are caught in the path of history. It introduces the fates of the inhabitants of Lidice through interpersonal relations, especially the love that stands at the beginning of the entire story. The year is 1942 – German propaganda is fastidiously concealing the genocide inflicted on the civil population. An exception was made, however, after the assassination of the Third Reich’s second in command, Reinhard Heydrich. After razing the small Czech village of Lidice to the ground, they announced it to the entire world. A single love letter was all the reason needed to burn the town down. At the time of its tragic demise, in June 1942, Lidice had a history lasting at least six centuries behind it. The Nazis coldly executed all of the men of Lidice, sending the women and children to the concentration camp. Some of the children were sent to be re-educated. The town of Lidice was erased from the map and razed to the ground.
