Ingrid is a gynecologist at a district hospital in late 1980s Czechoslovakia, where her life unfolds in a comfortable, yet monotonous routine as she delivers babies, performs abortions, and conducts sterilizations – without her Roma patients' informed consent more often than not – believing all the while that she is acting in their best interest. However, when Agáta, a half-Roma orderly, joins the hospital staff, Ingrid's worldview begins to shift. As the two form an unexpected bond, Ingrid is forced to confront the unsettling truth: even the most noble intentions cannot justify the means.
