Five Czech and coproduction films will compete this year in the festival's main sections. The main competition selection includes Litter Crusader by Václav Kadrnka, documentary section will present The White World According To Daliborek by Vít Klusák and Slovak-Czech coproduction This Is Not Me by Miro Remo. In the East of the West will compete Absence of Closennes by Josef Tuka and Nina by Juraj Lehotský. The main industry programmes and events that the Czech Film Center is co-organising at this year’s Karlovy Vary IFF are: the presentation panel of new Czech and Slovak films in development Pitch & Feedback, the international programme of short student films Future Frames and the Czech Film Fund Happy Hour, which will take place at Industry Pool in Hotel Thermal.

Pitch & Feedback

Pitch & Feedback is the annual presentation of 6-7 selected Czech and Slovak feature film projects in development. DAMIÁN VONDRÁŠEK AT FUTURE FRAMES
In its third edition of Future Frames, European Film Promotion selected ten outstanding young directors which will present their latest work at the KVIFF. One of them is Czech director Damián Vondrášek, which will present his second short feature Imprisoned (2016), already nominated for the Magnesia Award for Best Student Film (presented during the Czech Lion Awards). The participants will take part in a master class and an industry meeting with producers and sales agents in order to expand their international network.

CZECH FILM FUND HAPPY HOUR
In February 2017, the Czech Film Commission and the Czech Film Center joined the Czech Film Fund, the central institution responsible for financing and fostering the development of the Czech audiovisual industry. Each happy hour event has a different theme: You can meet the members of the Fund’s board of directors to hear about their strategies and priorities in evaluating projects; discuss the Fund’s future plans with its director; ask the Czech Film Commission and representatives of the Czech Republic’s regional film offices what they can offer filmmakers; or visit with the Czech Film Center and learn about the current state of Czech cinema.
