Czech Film Springboard is an industry programme organised by the Czech Film Fund / Czech Film Center in cooperation with Finále Plzeň film festival since 2016.

In 2021, the programme is scheduled to run within the Finále Plzeň film festival on September 24-26.

Czech Film Springboard is composed in four parts:

  • Pitching & Round Tables - Presentation of upcoming Czech films
  • Who Is Who
  • Funding News
  • Preparation training (for Pitching & Round Tables projects)

Presentation of projects

Pitching & Round Tables (closed presentation and consultation)
Presentation of around 6 Czech projects in development. Selected projects are pitched to invited international experts from various areas of film industry by their producers and directors and later discussed individually at round tables with selected professionals.

The event is closed for public and accessible only for invited experts and presenters of the selected projects.

The ultimate goal is to draw attention of competent international experts to carefully selected Czech projects in various stages of development, and to give the projects a chance to test their viability.

Moderated discussion about funding opportunities and co-producing in Europe.

The representatives of national funds of Estonia or Latvia will give the short overviews, and answer your concrete questions on accessing financing in their countries.

Informal meeting with the invited foreign film industry experts. Representatives of co-production markets, financing platforms, festivals, training initiatives and sales agents present their activities. Open to all film professionals present at the festival.

The representatives of film festivals (Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, Riga IFF, Jerusalem Film Festival, New Horizons IFF, Cottbus Film Festival and Trieste FF, sales agents (Loco Films, Pluto Film, Cercamon and Film Republic), co-production markets (Connecting Cottbus, New Horizons or Crossroads), but also producers from Norway, Slovenia, Hungary or Romania will present their activities.

This year, the programme will be enriched by a Czech-German Panel (Sunday, 26 September | 18:00-20:00) - a panel on the future of Czech-German co-productions and current topics that are interesting for German film professionals and related co-productions with Czech filmmakers. Using the example of the co-produced film ‘Je suis Karl’, we will discuss the current needs and topics that unite film professionals in  both countries
