Dana is a world-class figure skater living and training in Communist Czechoslovakia. A complicated romance, however, keeps dragging her down, as does the dark past of her overbearing Mother. To find freedom, Dana must face not only the demons of her relationships, but also Czechoslovakia’s Communist Party. ICE QUEEN, the story of figure skater Dana, is loosely based on the life of Hana Mašková (1949–1972), Czechoslovak figure skater, European champion, and Olympics winner. Hana died at the age of 22 following a tragic car accident.
