Before the books came, there was a nightmare. A fictional story about the birth of a global literary icon. The year is 1908. A young Franz Kafka wakes up with blood on his clothes and no memory of what happened. That night, two small children disappeared, and one of them is found dead in the morning. Kafka quickly finds himself the prime suspect and must prove his innocence as soon as possible. Together with his rebellious sister Ottla and the eccentric detective Olič, he sets out to find the real culprit before paranoia and fear take over the city. What begins as a nightmare will gradually test his mind and courage, while also awakening within him the voice with which he will later speak to the whole world.
