The Focus includes over thirty Czech animated shorts and covers almost the entire history of the strong and internationally renowned Czech animation tradition. As such, it paints a comprehensive picture of the diversity of its themes, techniques, and gradual evolution. The generous selection of classical works by the great masters of Czech animation such as Jiří Brdečka, Jiří Trnka, Hermína Týrlová, Karel Zeman, Jan Švankmajer or Jiří Barta is accompanied by many decorated films from the current generation of Czech animators, be it the films by Daria Kashcheeva (Daughter and Electra), Jan Saska (Hurikan), Diana Cam Van Nguyen (Apart), Philippe Kastner (Dede Is Dead), Bára Anna (Love Is Just a Death Away), Kateřina Karhánková (Fruits of Clouds) or Anna Podskalská (Red Shoes), to name but a few.
