Makedox selected Brotherhood, I Am Trying to Remember and Love, Dad for its competitive programme. Furthermore, 8 successful Czech feature docs of recent times will be screened as part of Czech Focus and 12 Czech short films will enrich the Kids and Youth program.
Brotherhood, directed by Francesco Montagner and produced by Pavla Janoušková Kubečková for nutprodukce, will compete for Young Onion as part of the Newcomers competition section at Makedox Festival. Pegah Ahangarani’s short doc I Am Trying to Remember, produced by Kaveh Farnam of Europe Media Nest, enriches the selection of Short Dox competition, and Student Dox competition includes short ani-doc Love, Dad, directed by Diana Cam Van Nguyen and produced by Karolína Davidová of 13ka.
Makedox’ Country in Focus is aimed at Czech documentary filmmaking this time. The festival will screen Brotherhood (also part of the competitive programme), René and René – The Prisoner of Freedom by Helena Třeštíková, Doggy Love (Linda Kallistová Jablonská), Kapr Code (Lucie Králová), Living Water (Pavel Borecký), Chicken, Virus and Us (Filip Remunda) and My Unknown Soldier (Anny Kryvenko). The Czech Focus program was prepared in cooperation with Czech Film Center, a promotional division of the Czech Film Fund.
In addition, the extensive Kids and Youth program is filled with Czech short films, including successful animated and documentary works of recent years. The selection includes: Awaker (Filip Diviak), Cloudy (Filip Diviak & Zuzana Čupová), Daughter (Daria Kashcheeva), Dodek (Nora Štrbová), Fruits of Clouds (Kateřina Karhánková), Hide N Seek (Barbora Halířová), Hopus (Lucie Kokoliová), Kuku (Daniela Hýbnerová), Leaf (Aliona Baranova), Overboard! (Barbora Valecká & Filip Pošivač), The Kite (Martin Smatana) and Way of Sylvie (Verica Pospíšilová Kordić).
