Playing by Lun Sevnik was selected for the 18th edition of Nest Film Students. At the 67th San Sebastian International Film Festival, Czech short film will have its international premiere.

18th edition of Nest Film Students has been announced, and one Czech student film is included. Playing by FAMU student Lun Sevnik was selected along with 13 shorts from Argentina, Belgium, Chile, France, Germany, Portugal, Russia and the UK, which will compete for Panavision Award at the 67th San Sebastian International Film Festival.

The film tells a story about two 16-year-old friends, Boris and Hugo, who arrived at Hugo’s parents’ house with a gun they just bought. They set up a livestream video on the internet and announce that in one hour they will commit suicide. While Boris is sure about the decision, Hugo still has his doubts. In the final moments of their lives, sadism, homoeroticism, and destructive desire are released…

Playing premiered in Future Frames – Generation NEXT of European Cinema (co-organized by European Film Promotion) at Karlovy Vary IFF earlier this year, and builds on a successful tradition of Czech student films at SSIFF. Sugar and Salt by Adam Martinec was selected for the Nest Film Students last year, Damián Vondrášek’s Imprisoned competed at the festival in 2017.
